Plus Size & Big and Tall Lederhosen
Plus size and big and tall lederhosen should be cut wider through the waist, seat and thigh, not simply stretched from a standard pattern. Ours are made on their own pattern for waist sizes US 44 to 60, with a longer rise, more room through the thigh and extended suspenders.
The embroidery is kept in proportion to the larger cut, and women's Curve styles run from US 16 to 28.
What makes a true big and tall cut
When a standard pair is simply graded up, the waist grows but the rise and thigh do not keep pace. The result digs in when you sit, rides low at the back and puts the embroidery in odd places. Our big and tall pattern changes the proportions instead:
- Longer rise so the waistband sits at your natural waist, front and back.
- Roomier thigh and seat, with a gusseted seat on selected styles, for comfortable sitting.
- Extended suspenders that reach comfortably over broader shoulders and a longer torso.
- A 5 inch inseam on shorts, a little longer than our standard 4 inches, for balanced proportions.
- Embroidery scaled to the larger panels so it looks the way it should.

XXL, 3XL, 4XL: finding your size
Lederhosen are sized by waist measurement, not by letter sizes, so a 3XL or 4XL shirt size does not tell you which trousers to order. Measure your waist where you wear your trousers, measure the widest part of your hips and seat, and compare both with the chart on the product page. Leather does not stretch the way denim does: it softens and molds, but it will not gain a full size. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one. Our size guide explains how to measure, and if you sit outside the chart, ask about made to measure.
Women's plus size lederhosen
Our Curve styles are cut on a women's plus pattern from US 16 to 28, with a contoured waistband, more room through the hip and thigh and a 5 inch inseam. Try the Ammersee Curve Walnut Brown Suede Women's Plus Size Lederhosen for a warm classic brown or the Chiemsee Curve Black Suede Women's Plus Size Lederhosen for a sleek black pair with contrasting embroidery. More women's cuts are in our women's lederhosen collection.
A complete big and tall outfit
Finding a shirt that matches is often harder than finding the trousers. The Rott Walnut Brown Big and Tall Lederhosen Outfit Set solves both: walnut suede trousers from W44 to W56 with extra-long suspenders, a red checked shirt in XL to 4XL and beige knee socks.
Comfort tips for a long day
- Set the suspenders so the trousers sit at your natural waist. Too low and they will pull when you sit.
- Choose goatskin or deerskin if you want the most flexible leather from the first wear.
- Wear a breathable cotton or linen shirt, and consider knee-length bundhosen for outdoor events in cool weather.
- Break new leather in with a few hours of wear at home before the big day.
